Livestock Schemes

Livestock Schemes

About 10 years ago we started the Suckler Scheme to encourage our clients to use Westover Vets to improve health and production on their farms, instead of fire-fighting problems. It has partially fulfilled its purpose, however we never felt we got the perfect model, as longer standing members will recognise by the number changes over the years!

After much deliberation we have decided to scrap the scheme and adopt a new, simpler system that applies to all our farm clients, as follows:

  1. We will retain the cheaper rate on time for routine work.
  2. Unplanned/emergency work will continue to be charged at a higher rate, as it is more expensive for us to provide.
  3. We will no longer charge an annual membership fee.
  4. Since there is no membership fee, you will no longer get an allocation of free call outs for routine work: call outs for daytime work will be at the normal rate.
  5. Medicine discounts will be awarded based on the amount spent on medicines the preceding year. For 2023 we will keep you on the same rate you were on last year. The thresholds from 2024 will be
    1. £250-1000: 5%
    2. £1000-5000: 10%
    3. Over £5000: 15%
  6. In addition, we want to encourage vaccine use since we see the marked benefits these have to our clients’ farms. Large vaccine orders might be eligible to additional discounts over your base rate. Please discuss this with us on a case-by-case basis.
