Routine Dental Care

We recognise that routine dental assessment and care are a crucial part of maintaining a healthy, comfortable and well performing horse.

All our Equine Vets have vast experience in Equine Dentistry and are comfortable performing dental examinations, pathology diagnosis & routine rasping. We have invested heavily in Equine Dentistry with all our vets carrying motorised dental rasps and associated equipment. We understand that some horses will be well behaved and cooperative for routine examination and rasping however some either due to anxiety or pain / discomfort will require sedation. Often, we will also recommend sedation to provide the best service and quality to yourself the risks are minimal allow a safer, better and faster service.

A good way of thinking about why we use sedation in some cases is to imagine trying to colour in a picture within the lines, but someone keeps moving / jolting the book away from you thus leading to you making mistakes and going out the lines. Now imagine this but inside the horse’s mouth with sharp and motorised equipment!
